MUSICAL OUTREACH IN THE COMMUNITY
From its early years, Friday Musicale has worked with the youth in Jacksonville providing musical outreach and education. Starting with providing Victor Talking Machines for music classes in the Duval County Public Schools to master classes from our visiting artists, Friday Musicale has enriched generations in Jacksonville through music.
From 2008-2010, Friday Musicale provided bi-monthly music education to students at the Florence N. Davis Center of Community Connections. Through a grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida in 2009-2010, the organization presented multiple performances about the life of the “Black Mozart” Joseph Boulogne (with corresponding published book). Friday Musicale is working to present its “Black Mozart” program in the Title I schools in 2011-2012.
Friday Musicale annually presents master classes and educational experiences by our concert series artists for young musicians at our home venue and in local schools.
FRIDAY MUSICALE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
For over fifty years Friday Musicale, through its Philanthropic Department, has awarded music scholarships to graduating high school seniors from the Jacksonville area pursuing degrees in music. These four-year scholarships are awarded to instrumental and vocal students annually. A panel of three highly qualified judges choose the best of the best and award the scholarships. Students awarded these scholarships must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and major in music.
For more information please contact Friday Musicale at 904-355-7584.
